Lydiate u10’s won their first match of the season with an entertaining win against AFC Bull Roma. Despite starting the game well, AFC Bull Roma took the lead with a strike from long range. However, Lydiate responded well and didn’t let the score line affect them. They equalised shortly before half time with Sebi crossing from a kick in. Bull Roma were unable to clear their lines and JK was able to apply pressure and deflect a chance in.
Buoyed by the equaliser Lydiate started the second half well. William drove forward from midfield and arrowed a shot past the keeper into the bottom left corner. There were some nervy times with Bull Roma going close and hitting the post. Lydiate had their chances as well with William and a Thomas having chances.
However, with 5 or so minutes they scored another. Freddie reacting well to save by the keeper and crossing for Thomas to tap in. It was a great team performance and the lads were all made up at the end.
Parents Player of the match was Will for his athletic and dynamic performance in midfield. It was the first time he’d played there and he did a great job.
Coaches’ player went to Freddie for his all-round defensive work with his tackling and bringing the ball out of defence and starting attacks.
